"Borrego from Cardadeu" are a sweet specialty deeply rooted in Catalonia. Made with flour, sugar, butter, yeast, oil, eggs, and annatto, they are similar to Carquiñolis, but once shaped and cut, they are placed in a container with extra virgin olive oil, covered with a cloth, and left to rise in a warm place until they double in size. They are then baked until golden brown. Once cooled, they are cut into smaller pieces and baked again until crispy. Due to their crunchy texture, they are often eaten dipped in milk, hot chocolate, sweet wines, or liqueurs.
