The most cultivated variety is Tudela white artichoke , very tender and tasty. The cultivation of these artichokes is mainly concentrated in the towns of L'Aldea and Amposta.

Currently, artichoke has become present in Catalan culinary habits and takes numerous gastronomic forms: grilled, breaded, fried, stuffed, accompanying stews and all kinds of vegetables.

The artichoke of El Prat, with almost 100 years of history, is the queen of the crops of the central Delta and achieves a flavor of great quality. For all these reasons, work is currently being done to obtain the European quality label of Protected Geographical Indication (PGI).

The mild climate, with the action of the wind that descends the river Llobregat, combined with the sea breezes make the Artichoke Prat, grown in the Baix Llobregat Agricultural Park, present unbeatable characteristics: Fresh, intense, tasty, soft and little rough on the palate.

Queen of the crops of the central Llobregat delta, the cultivation of the El Prat artichoke is also favored by a land of alluvial origin, slightly saline, deep and fertile. The characteristic properties of artichoke Prat are accompanied by the high nutritional value of this product. It stands out for being rich in carbohydrates, in the form of inulin and fiber, and is also one of the vegetables with the highest content of magnesium, phosphorus and calcium. In addition, the artichoke Prat also stands out for its richness in phenols and polyphenols.
